If you have ever worked in a bakery and have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills, you could create specialty wedding cakes and other wedding treats. Cookie gift baskets, huge whole cookie sheet cookies in special shapes for special occasions, specialty breads or torts are also items for which there will be customers. Emphasize that you use fresh wholesome local ingredients without artificial dyes, flavors or preservatives to attract customers who are becoming leery of the over-processed, pre-packaged mass-produced American diet.

The number of people who are intolerant to certain foods is growing exponentially. I would NOT recommend preparing anything to eat for these people unless you are VERY familiar with what is involved in their food preparation, but IF you are, special treats for these people would be a Godsend and oh, so appreciated.

Closely related to working capital is the business cycle. In general, the business cycle is the same for all businesses. For you, however, the timing and issues are different depending on what industry you are in. I want you to learn about the business cycle because it is the rhythm of your business cycle that undermines all of your decisions.

The business cycle keeps time for your company. The pace of your business cycle will determine how much working capital you have. Like a carefully engineered machine or a finely synchronized orchestra, your business cycle is influenced by everything you and all your employees do.

The business cycle is a closed system that really begins when you purchase raw materials or something to resell. If you are in the service industry, then you are buying labor or maybe expertise.
